We are very proud to continue our annual support of the Youth Villages Backpack Heroes initiative this fall through the LGA Gives Back program.  The pandemic added a unique challenge to the way we donated but didn’t change our determination to assist an organization providing much needed essentials to young adults in our community. While the pandemic may have changed what school looked like this year, we know that many students were still starting the year without necessary materials and supplies.

In typical pandemic fashion, we couldn’t physically organize to collect school supplies and backpacks. Instead, we ordered requested items online and have them delivered right to the Youth Villages office in Woburn.  Additionally, with  many communities planning to use virtual classrooms, we provided monetary donations to assist with the purchase of electronics and other learning tools necessary for remote learning.

“Corporate partner participation is vital to the success of our initiatives and brings necessities and joy to young people and families who are in great need. The vast majority of donations we receive come from employees at our corporate partners’ locations,” says LGA employee, Sarah Goss. “The LGA staff members have been major players in our mission to improve family life and provide better outcomes for our program participants. It makes such a big difference by providing young people with the tools and supplies that they need to succeed.”

As part of our LGA Gives Back program, we look forward to our continued relationship with Youth Villages and similar organizations in the communities where we live and work.
